A college freshmen by the name of Keiichi Morisato, is your typical girlfriend-less nice guy who gets taken advantage of and ordered around by his older dorm-mates to do chores and take messages. Then one day he calls the Goddess Technical Helpline and, Belldandy, a beautiful goddess appears/materializes in his room. She has a single wish to grant him and thinking it is a joke, he wishes that she stays with him forever. The wish is granted and they get kicked out of the male-only dormitory. The two of them go out looking for shelter and find it in an old Buddhist temple where they meet a young monk who allows them to stay there.
